Laura's Wedding

Hair and Make Up Trial

I first spoke to Laura when she contacted me by telephone regarding her wedding make up – she was unsure as to whether she wanted to have her make up done – and so after chatting for a while we arrange a trial deciding to see how it went and go from there.

She arrived at my house one week day morning and we discussed briefly the type of look she hoped to create and whether she had any themes that she wanted to follow.

I forgot to mention that my initial thought was how beautiful she was, and I became aware not to mask her natural beauty with lots of heavy make up.

On the base I used a light reflective foundation which gave a good even coverage and used a small amount of touché éclat to mask some imperfections, and then turned my attention to her eyes, I used a cream shimmer all over the lower lids and then a darker brown into the socket line which I blended, I used a brown eye shadow as an eyeliner to define her eyes and applied a coat of black mascara.

On her cheeks I applied a rose blush to give a flushed look on the apples of her cheeks and I highlighted the cheek bone with a subtle shimmer. I applied a taupe coloured lipstick to complete the look.

Laura was pleased with her make up and did not want to change a thing!

We discussed eyebrow shaping and eyelash tinting and an appointment was made a week before the big day!

The Wedding day...

It was a gorgeous sunny Saturday in august as I arrived at the Pultney Hotel in Bath, Laura was pretty relaxed but the nerves were starting to show, her mum and bridesmaid were there to support her though.

The room was pretty dark so we moved as close to the window as we could.

I re-created the trial make up and she looked even more stunning than the trial day, I offered to do ‘mum’s make up and her bridesmaid as the were intrigued with Laura’s transformation.

I used light browns on her Bridesmaid and left off the foundation as she had lovely skin, a touch of lip-gloss completed her dewy look.

On mum we discussed colours etc and settled for neutrals on her lips we went for a dark red, she looked beautiful and classy, I am relieved we always use waterproof mascara as she was so emotional!

I never did get to see the completed look until she sent me through some photos – she looked just like am model in a wedding magazine – I am sure you’ll agree!
